Integrated communications, content curation, institutional engagement and partnerships
1. Context
The choice of Belém, in the Brazilian Amazon, as host city for COP30 in 2025 placed the region at the centre of the global climate debate. More than a diplomatic summit, the conference opened up space to discuss development models, the role of business, climate communications and local agency.
It was in this context that Casa Balaio emerged: an independent space for gatherings, culture, communications and critical thinking, created by the agencies Alter Conteúdo and Jambo Comunicação to host debates, events, training sessions and activations before, during and after COP30.
Through Revista Problemas Brasileiros, I was responsible for Casa Balaio’s content partnership and media support, and for organising an event to launch the magazine’s special COP30 issue.
2. The challenge
The central challenge was to turn a partnership into an integrated communications project capable of:
- positioning Revista PB as a credible curator of the climate debate;
- articulating FecomercioSP’s institutional presence in the context of COP30;
- creating a significant in-person event in Belém, bringing together local, business and institutional voices;
- generating high-quality editorial and audiovisual content with national reach;
- integrating strategy, curation, production, partnerships, communications and operations into a single project.
All of this in a region outside Brazil’s traditional Rio–São Paulo axis, which called for local engagement and integrated management.
3. Strategy
The approach was end-to-end integrated communications, connecting:
- an in-person event;
- editorial content (the special COP30 issue of Revista PB, launched during the event);
- audiovisual production (interviews for Canal UM BRASIL);
- institutional engagement and partnership development;
- a communications and visibility plan for the post-event period.
From the outset, the project was conceived as an ecosystem of activities rather than a stand-alone event.
4. My role
I worked across the whole project, from strategic conception through to overall coordination, including:
- Devising the format of the project and of the event Encontros COP30 | Clima, Impacto e Mercado [COP30 Encounters: Climate, Impact and Market] at Casa Balaio in Belém.
- Securing partnerships.
- Thematic curation of the debates and interviews.
- Defining the agenda for the debates and interviews.
- Institutional engagement across Revista PB, Canal UM BRASIL, FecomercioSP, Casa Balaio, Alter Conteúdo, Jambo Comunicação and Aberje.
- Contact, production and coordination with guests, moderators and partners.
- Overall project coordination, integrating content, event, communications and operations.
- Contributing to the conception of the special COP30 issue of Revista Problemas Brasileiros, launched during the event at Casa Balaio.
- Distribution of more than 400 copies of the special issue in Belém — at the launch event and across the events Casa Balaio organised during COP30 in November 2025.
The work called for both strategic thinking and hands-on delivery, ensuring coherence between message, format and outcome.
5. What we delivered at Casa Balaio
In-person public event
- Two panel debates, including a representative of FecomercioSP’s Sustainability Council
- A TED-style talk
- Launch of the special COP30 issue of Revista PB
- Closing reception
Audiovisual content
- Recording of interviews for Canal UM BRASIL, on themes aligned with FecomercioSP’s Agenda Verde (green agenda) and the wider climate debate.
Editorial content
- Conception and launch of the special COP30 issue of Revista Problemas Brasileiros, bringing together articles, interviews and analysis on climate, markets, the bioeconomy and the Amazon.
Communications and visibility
An integrated communications plan involving:
- FecomercioSP
- Revista PB
- Casa Balaio
- Institutional partners
with press releases, articles, documentation and digital follow-up.
6. Results (qualitative)
- Revista PB positioned as a significant curator of the climate agenda;
- FecomercioSP’s Agenda Verde strengthened within the national debate;
- Editorial and audiovisual content generated with national reach;
- Casa Balaio established as a strategic space for pre-COP30 debate.
7. What we learned
The project confirmed that:
- Strategic communications requires being present in the territory;
- Events gain force when integrated with content and narrative;
- Partnerships work when curation is shared;
- Climate communications needs to be plural, contextual and connected to local realities.
8. Why this case matters
This case study captures the kind of work Rocha Comunicação Integrada does: complex projects with multiple actors, connecting strategy, content, culture, education and institutional impact.
